Transport and communications in India

Transport and communications

The most important convenience in choosing a country is comfortable movement across its expanses. The possibility of visiting more excursions, shopping and safaris to the most interesting places of the resort directly depends on this.

It is convenient to travel around India using air flights, trains and minibuses. However, it is worth remembering that first-class seats on trains will cost significantly more than airline services. Therefore, it is recommended to travel around the country by second class trains, as they are no less comfortable: they are equipped with air conditioning and have four or six-seater compartments.

Public Transport

Surprisingly, in India buses are divided into classes:

  • suite
  • junior suite
  • passenger
  • "SlepperBase"
  • "Air-conditioner"

The Sleeper Bus series buses are equipped with two-tier shelves, which allow them to travel long distances in comfort. All buses are divided into classes: city, express, “super express” and “interstate super express”, which travel to the route with or without stops. Each bus has a conductor from whom you can purchase a ticket for travel. All transport runs at a precise time, and you do not have to wait long to get into the car.

Taxi

Taxis are easy to recognize among thousands of cars; the cars are bright yellow with checkered patterns.

Taxi prices range from 5-12 rupees per km. At night, the fare doubles, so be prepared for additional expenses. Taxi drivers are quite cunning and may not take you to the specified point, so negotiate the price and exact address in advance. Refuse various additional payments, since the cost of the trip most likely already includes additional incentives.

Bicycles and auto rickshaw

Renting bicycles and auto-rickshaws is widespread; the cost is much cheaper than taxi services.

In India, there are also “shared taxis”, which are large jeeps for driving on mountain roads and stages, designed for 13 passengers. The cost of such a trip will be much cheaper than a trip by individual taxi.

City taxis equipped with a taximeter are also constantly running, which will easily take you to your destination.

communication

It is very important to take care of feedback; to do this, you should contact customer service offices and study possible types of communication. India is rightfully considered one of the fastest growing countries in the world in the mobile communications market. You are required to provide 1-2 photographs of size (3*4) and a foreign passport, after which they will sell you a SIM card. The cost of a SIM card depends on the selected tariff plan and ranges from 100-200 rupees.

The quality of mobile communications is excellent, and the phone can connect to the network not only in the city, but also in public transport.
