Population of Bali

Indonesia is represented by an abundance of people from different countries. More than 40% of Javanese, Sundas and Madures live here, as well as about 4 million Chinese. The population consists of more than 360 ethnic groups and races. Here you can also meet Arabs and people from Asia.

Political system

Indonesia is a unitary republic headed by a president elected by the people for a term of 5 years.
The legislative body is the Parliament, which is the Council of People's Representatives of Indonesia.

Language

The local population speaks more than 750 languages and local dialects. Due to such abundance, many tribes cannot understand each other and have difficulty communicating.

The national language spoken by the vast majority of local residents is Bahasa Indonesia. It is very similar to Malaysian and is one of the easiest to learn in the world. In Bahasa Indonesia there are no declensions or cases, and there is also no plural concept at all. Latin letters are used for pronunciation and writing.

All staff of large hotels speak excellent English, so you will not have any communication difficulties in the tourist area. But beyond its borders, the level of education of the population is sharply reduced.

Knowledge of the Indonesian language will make it easier for you to communicate with Indonesians and will earn respect from the service staff.

Local people

Indonesian locals are calm and balanced, sincerely happy to see visitors and can ask unexpected questions. Women may be asked about their marital status and number of children, while men are asked questions regarding business and social status. Some may be alarmed by such attention, but rest assured, this is a so-called manifestation of politeness and idle interest.
