Narkanda Ski Resort

64 km from Shimla is one of the oldest Indian resorts - Narkanda. Narkanda is located at an altitude of 2708 m and is an important historical center. The orchards on the surrounding slopes produce some of the finest varieties of apples and cherries of Himachal. What makes Narkanda attractive is that it remains relatively unspoiled and uncrowded with tourists, so you won't find yourself suffocating among crowds of skiers.

Narkanda's slopes range from beginner to advanced, from slalom to cross-country. However, it is a less equipped place than even Solang Nullah near Manali and is far from the standards of Auli Uttaranchal. Khatu Peak, 6 km from Narkanda, rises 600 m above it and has popular ski slopes. Here you can also rent equipment and take a training course. 

Getting there

Narkanda is located on the main road from Shimla to Kannaur. There is a regular bus service from Shimla, which in turn is well connected to the rest of India by rail and road. The journey from Narkanda to Shimla takes about 2 hours. It is also possible to hire private transport or a taxi. 

Placement

The list of accommodation options in Narkanda is quite limited. There is a holiday home in the city - a nice, but unpretentious, small hotel and a small number of private houses. Most are comfortable and clean, but far from luxurious.
