New species of giant spider discovered in Sri Lanka

New species of giant spider discovered in Sri Lanka

An unknown species of spider with a shocking size was found in Sri Lanka by a group of scientists. Its paws reach 20 cm, and its entire body is the size of a human head. The individual was originally found dead 4 years ago. And now, finally, after a long search, scientists managed to discover a female and her cubs living in the jungle. The unknown species of tarantula was named Poecilotheria rajaei. In terms of color, such spiders have distinct colors - pale yellow spots on the legs and pink stripes on the abdomen. They live mainly in old trees, but can adapt to changing environmental conditions.

Despite the rarity of such tarantulas, tourists are advised to be extremely careful when going on a hike in the jungle. Although the venom of this type of spider is considered not fatal to humans, it can still cause unpleasant health consequences.
