A butterfly zoo has opened in Delhi.

A butterfly zoo has opened in Delhi.

In New Delhi, a mini-reserve for butterflies will appear in Lodi Gardens, a favorite recreation spot for city residents. Now these little creatures will enjoy human protection. Attention and care will be directed to the welfare of these insects.

The location of the reserve was carefully chosen by zoological specialists. Installation of additional equipment on an area of 12 thousand square meters (tent and netting) and soundproofing of the interior make it possible to protect butterflies from birds and bats. 50 species of flowers, trees and shrubs grow under them. 24 species of butterflies are collected here, which accounts for thirty percent of the city’s species diversity.

The goal of this project is not only to preserve insects, but also to instill a love of nature in children and adolescents. There are plans to extend this experience to other areas of the city.
