India simplifies visa regime for Russian citizens
As stated in the press release of the diplomatic mission, from now on, citizens of the Russian Federation will be able to obtain business visas valid for one year with the possibility of multiple entries.
“The validity period of tourist visas is now 6 months (previously the validity period was one or three months) with the possibility of triple or multiple entry (previously the visa gave the right to single or double entry into the country),” the embassy added.
Both business and tourist visas will be issued within three working days following the day of submission of documents.
“We will start issuing multiple-entry work visas for a year; previously it was possible to visit the country only once or twice in six months. Multiple-entry tourist visas will now be valid for 6 months,” said Indian Ambassador to Russia Ajay Malhotra.
The Indian Embassy took such measures to ease the visa regime to expand business cooperation with Russia and increase the flow of tourists between the countries.
The new rules will also apply at the consulates in St. Petersburg and Vladivostok.
Malhotra said the new rules came into effect on June 12, Russia's national day.
