Ethnic mega-carnival on the island of Java
Indonesian city Banyuwangi invites tourists and residents of the country to a bright, colorful costume carnival designed to demonstrate ethnic identity Indonesia, its culture and traditions. Particular emphasis is placed on the traditions of this part of the island. So, in 2019 the parade will be dedicated to Munkar - the largest fishing area in the entire country.

The key event of the holiday is always a parade, the participants of which wear bright, luxurious outfits that carry a special meaning - each participant will commemorate cultural customs. These can include traditional Banyuwangi wedding robes, outfits that symbolize local cuisine, and much more. The culmination of the holiday will be a ritual dance Gandrung, performed by several hundred dancers - in the old days, local residents thus thanked the gods for the harvest at the end of the rice harvest.

In addition, during the holiday, guests will be delighted with musical performances, dancers with national programs and performances with interesting rituals of fishermen. There will also be a fair where you can buy souvenirs at a profit and try national cuisine.

The celebration will take place on July 28, admission to the event is free.
