The city is divided into five districts. In the center of the city there are business districts, and closer to the outskirts, in the northern part, there are industrial enterprises. Residential areas are located in the southern part of Chennai.

Chennai has its own international airport, so it is best, of course, to try to book direct flights to save yourself from unnecessary transfers.

From the airport to the city you can take a train or order a taxi.

Public Transport

The most convenient form of public transport in Chennai is the metro. There are four metro lines here, and stations are located not only within the city, but also outside it.

It is not recommended to use other modes of transport, since the city is very busy and traffic jams constantly occur here. But if the metro is still not suitable for you, then you can use a bus, tuk-tuk or taxi.

Beaches of Chennai

Chennai has one of the longest beaches in terms of its length - Marina Beach. Its length is 12 km. Unfortunately, this is not only the longest, but also the most polluted beach. Both locals and fishermen often come here to have a picnic, so it is on this beach that you can see how the local population lives. Visitors are not recommended to swim here or even appear on the beach in the evening.

Two other beaches are more suitable for tourists - Breezy Beach and Eliots Beach, which are located not far outside the city.

Attractions in Chennai

This city was originally a small fishing village, and now it is the largest industrial and business center in India. Its development was influenced by the British, Portuguese and Dutch, so you can see a wide variety of attractions here.

Chennai has many Catholic churches that serve as reminders of the colonial era. One of the most notable churches is the Cathedral of St. Thomas. They say that one of the apostles of Jesus Christ preached here and here he was killed by ill-wishers. The hill on which this happened was named in his honor - the hill of St. Thomas, and soon a church was built on his grave, which became the place of worship of all pilgrims. Nowadays, Christians come here from all over India, and the cathedral is considered a national shrine.

Externally, the Cathedral stands out among other temples with its Gothic style, which is unusual for traditional Indian architecture.
